Drostanolone Propionate (Masteron): A Tracking Guide for the Short Ester
A DHT-derived anabolic associated with cutting and "hardening." What that means, what it does not do, and what to monitor.

Best for
Drostanolone propionate, commonly called Masteron, is a DHT-derived anabolic steroid. It does not aromatise and is associated in physique circles with a "hardening" or "drier" look, used mostly in cutting contexts at low body fat. The short propionate ester means frequent injections.
This is an educational tracking guide. Drostanolone is a controlled substance in many places with limited legitimate medical use today. Nothing here is a recommendation.
What it does
- Mild-to-moderate anabolic with strong androgenic character
- Does not aromatise to estrogen, and can act mildly as an anti-estrogen
- The "hardening" effect is largely a low-body-fat cosmetic phenomenon, not extra muscle
- Suppresses the HPTA
Why expectations matter here
The visible "hardening" people attribute to Masteron mostly shows up only when body fat is already low. At higher body fat it does very little visible. Tracking helps separate the compound from the diet that usually accompanies it.
What to track daily
- Dose, site, route (rotate; propionate is frequent and can sting)
- Libido and erectile function
- Mood and aggression
- Scalp shedding and acne - DHT derivatives are hard on hair-loss-prone users
- Injection-site reaction
- Blood pressure symptoms
What to track weekly
- Bodyweight and waist (in a cut, the diet is the main driver)
- Blood pressure
- Strength
- Standardised photos in fixed lighting if "hardening" is the goal you are judging
Bloodwork worth doing
- Baseline: testosterone, sensitive estradiol, full blood count, lipids, PSA where appropriate, kidney and liver panels
- During and after: repeat
- Lipids and, in prone individuals, prostate symptoms deserve attention
Realistic expectations
- Effects are subtle and most visible only when lean
- It will not make a soft physique look hard - that is body fat
- Hair loss and acne are real risks for predisposed users
Common mistakes
- Expecting dramatic results at non-lean body fat
- Blaming or crediting Masteron for changes that the contest-prep diet caused
- Ignoring accelerated hair loss in predisposed users
- No baseline labs or photos
A tracking template
- Pre: baseline labs plus standardised photos
- On: daily logs with site rotation, weekly weight and BP, periodic photos
- Judge "hardening" by identical photos, not the mirror
Safety notes
DHT-derived, so hair loss and acne risk in predisposed users, plus adverse lipids, HPTA suppression, and prostate considerations. Frequent injections raise site-reaction risk. Controlled and largely without current medical indication; monitor under a physician.
